Rated R for language and sexual situations! <><><><><><> "Mommy?" The little girl called softly. "Mommy's not here. She went away." She flinched at the tone of her father's voice wishing Mommy was here to protect her from the cold man. "Daddy, did Mommy go away because I was bad?" She asked timidly. "Yes, you should never pull pranks like that." Her young mind couldn't comprehend the exact meaning of the bitter smile on his face but a small part of her quaked in outrage. "I'm sorry Daddy. Will Mommy come back if I apologize to her?" She sniffled and he let out a sharp bark of laughter as he lifted the bottle to his lips, glaring at her as he chugged the contents. "No, she's gone forever because of you. Get out of my sight!" His declaration was followed by the now empty bottle of liquor that he threw at the wall by the little girls head, laughing as she scuttled out of the house. The scene changed and she was running as fast as her legs could carry her through the forest. Time was running out. The mental clock in her head giving her a silent countdown for the bomb she had set. She could still remember the cold voice of her commanding officer telling her that she had failed, that she had left some sign of her presence in the enemy base and his order for her to remedy the situation. The explosion broke her from her reverie and she stopped for a moment, waiting for darkness to settle once more before she continued her escape. That's when she heard the screams. She woke up bathed in a cold sweat, the nightmare still fresh in her mind. Only it wasn't a nightmare, it was memories. "Father, you were such a bastard," she whispered bitterly, hugging her knees to her chest as her body shook with the force of her emotion. "I didn't even know she was dead, he just told me she went away. Why did I remember that tonight of all nights?" She asked the empty room. "Why?" she screamed brokenly as she curled in on herself in the middle of the bed. Sobbing uncontrollably. "Midii," Lady Une called as she came barging into the room gun drawn. The sight on the bed confused her at first before her motherly instincts took over and she gathered her sobbing niece in her arms. Stroking the younger girls back and murmuring soft words of comfort. "Why does he hate me so much," Midii hiccupped as she burrowed her face further into her Aunts chest attempting to hide from the world. "Who?" "Father, Trowa, even Duo," the tears flowed faster now, coursing down her cheeks as she struggled to get the words out amongst the sobs, "just all of them. What did I do wrong?" "Nothing sweet, nothing." Lady Une said softly as she rocked Midii gently, lending her support and love. <><><><><><> "Hi, Lady Une." "Barton." She replied, lifting an eyebrow in query. Silently seething at his blithe attitude when she had spent half the night consoling her niece because of him and other's like him. "I'm here to give Ms. Une a ride to Headquarters." He responded calmly. Inwardly cringing as he waited for the axe to fall, knowing that he was in trouble. "I'm not sure that's a good idea given your unprofessional attitude towards her Barton." Lady Une said her voice clipped as she glared at her subordinate. "I assure you that nothing like that will ever happen again." "I'm going to be blunt. She has been hurt beyond measure by the men in her life. She is damaged and hurt and if you hurt her again I will nail your balls to the wall." He gulped at the fury in her eyes and fought the urge to cover himself refusing to cower. "I understand." He replied finally. "Good, after you've deposited her at headquarters I expect to see you back in the file room. Ami tells me that you've been a wonderful help organizing all the paperwork." "Yes Ma'am." <><><><><><><> "Are you sure this is her office?" Hilde asked Wufei softly and he nodded in response. "Damn then, she's pretty high up to rate an office like this. Look at the view!" "Woman! She'll be arriving soon," he reminded her pointedly looking at the computer sitting innocently on the polished mahogany desk. "Spoilsport. It'll only take a moment; all we have to do is install the program on this desk and then wellah, instant revenge." Hilde grinned. Wufei shook his head, questioning his call for aid. The part of him that was steeped in honor rebelling at the thought of this plot and the acceptance of aid but the larger part of him. The part of him that had fought in battles, had planted bombs, infiltrated bases, reveled in the exercise in the stretching of his talents. That part justified the aid, categorizing Hilde and Heero as his resources. He smirked. "And it's done," Hilde said softly, glee in her eyes as the computer powered done once more. "She's good, but I'm better." He fought the urge to cackle. Refusing to give up all his dignity. "Good." He responded smugly. <><><><><><><> "Ami?" "Yes Ma'am." "I would like a copy of all pictures that you take of Agent Barton. And a percentage of the sales. I consider it only fair as you are using company property to run this little business of yours." Lady Une grinned at the young Preventer's startled expression. "Yes Ma'am," she squeaked, "I'll send a copy of everything up to you shortly." "Excellent." <><><><><><><> She blinked as the screen turned purple, then green, then orange and yellow in succession before it finally settled on a shade of purple plaid. "That's a new one, I've never seen the purple plaid screen o' death before," she murmured as she started tapping away at the keys furiously. Blinking again as the screen cleared and her desktop was once again visible. "Strange," she whispered glancing around the office looking for telltale signs of an intrusion and then shaking her head at her paranoia. She growled in frustration as the screen went through the different colors again before settling on the purple plaid again. "Dammit, I have work I need to do." She hissed as she grabbed up her reports and stormed from the room heading for the file room and the extra computer it contained. <><><><><><><> "It shouldn't have done that," Hilde whispered as she peeked in the corner office, glancing at the screen of the computer. "It was meant to be dancing hamsters that multiplied as time went on. It wasn't meant to do that." -to be continued.... |
