Midii looked around the room, habit forcing her to catalogue all the exits and points of interest before returning her attention to the occupants. Her blue-gray eyes leveled a challenge at the silent room before she moved to stand next to her Aunt, her lips drawn in a thin line. Her short blonde hair bounced behind her with each step and for once she regretted the hasty decision to hack it all off, she missed the security which the curtain of hair had provided her with.

Lady Une looked at her niece and nephews with a measure of pride as they walked into the lion’s den their heads held high. They all looked so much alike, and so much like their mother that it was scary, she had forgotten the reason for their banishment from the family tree, things like that were unimportant now. Her calm doe brown eyes took in everything around her as the stage was set for the next act, she took note of each Gundam Pilot’s reaction to the spy’s in their midst. She mentally shook her head as she thought of how much like Treize she was beginning to sound, and a sharp pain shot through her heart. She missed him, but one day, one day she would be reunited with her love.

“Miss Une, has agreed to help us with this latest threat,” Lady Une said softly before taking her seat and waiting patiently for the riot to break out.

“She’s a spy, how can we trust her,” came the rebellious words and Lady Une just smiled softly, she glanced to Midii her head tilting in acknowledgment as she allowed the younger woman to deal with the remark.

“I would never betray family, family is something I hold dear to my heart and I have precious little left. I would never betray either of my brother’s nor my aunt,” she quipped crossing her arms over her chest as a large hand rested on her shoulder.

“At great risk to our lives we bring you this information, we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t important, but hey if you don’t want to know who has Mrs. Yuy, then we’ll leave and we’ll take our information with us,” Damien said gently tugging Midii in the direction of the door as he noticed Trowa standing with his comrades. So he has chosen, Damien thought with satisfaction.

“Stay, and explain,” came the monotone voice of Heero Yuy as his Prussian eyes glittered with the promise of pain if he was disobeyed.

“I was hired by my employer to infiltrate one of the family’s of the Gundam pilot’s and find it’s secret’s, along the way I acquired other useful information. I don’t know his name but I know where his base of operations is and I know he intends to destroy you all, and with my help, he would be just a little closer to his goal. I don’t want to help him, I’ve helped the wrong side enough, I know you don’t trust me, I can see it in your eyes. But, trust the judgment of Lady Une, she knows me and she believes that I speak the truth. As a peace offering here is the data I stole from your computer before,” she said tossing a small disk onto the table before taking a seat facing the Gundam Pilots.

“Who’s family,” Quatre asked her softly.

“Yours and Trowa’s, or should I say Triton Bloom’s.”

“Is that all the information you found,” Quatre asked again anxious to have his family’s secrets safe and undisturbed.

“What I saved to disk, the rest is in my mind, but don’t worry I will never speak of what I know, secrets will remain secrets and no one shall pry any dirt on your family’s from me.”

“Several weeks ago, I was confronted by an agent with a proposition, I would receive a sizable payment if I delivered certain information to certain coordinates in Siberia. I delivered some false information to said coordinates a few days ago, my brother Damien traced the information and we know have three possibilities for their base.”

“We can get that information by force if we need to,” came Heero’s sullen reply.

“What my sister is trying to propose to you gentlemen is this, for amnesty and a full pardon we will provide said information to you all and we will also aid you in furthering your investigations.” Christof said as he moved from the shadows to stand beside his siblings.

“She has betrayed us sir, your little spy is proving to be more of a nuisance than she’s worth,” came the sickly voice of his subordinate as he tried to digest this information. Her reputation had been impeccable, perfect in everyway, this had to be a ruse, she, the Queen of the Game would not betray the sacred code.

“Leave me,” the man said softly his fingers steepled in front of his face, his elbows resting on the mahogany surface of his desk as he thought.

“The plan must be changed, the Little Princess is not cooperating and now my plans are in the hand of the enemy, but plans can always be changed,” he mused out loud to the thick walls and tapestries.

“It’s time for a change in the rules, I think, the Princess will make the perfect bait for the Gundam pilots and one of them is sure to talk, chivalry can be oh so trying at times,” he cackled before pressing the button on the intercom, beckoning his subordinate back into his private chambers.

“You rang sir,” the sickly voice came again as the young man stood there nervously wringing his hands, a strand of greasy hair hanging in his face.

“Call my officers to me, there will be a change of plan, no more Mr. Nice Terrorist,” the man said. “The little Princess will become the perfect bait, and that traitorous spy will lead them into my trap.”

“Very good General Chamberlain, I will alert the officers immediately, they will all arrive shortly,” the greasy, sickly, subordinate said before quietly shutting the door behind himself.

“Now we will play, and we will see who is the perfect soldier, the perfect leader,” the General said softly as his hand dimmed the lights, and for a moment all that could be seen was the glimmer of his glasses in the dark.

“Can we trust her,” Duo asked the gathered group, his somber mood rare to those present, at that moment they only then realized the true effect of this latest threat.

“We can gentlemen, an Une never lies to an Une, it would break the family code,” Lady Une said softly from her position at the head of the table. She only hoped that her niece had a shred of integrity left after all those years as a spy.

“She’s a weak woman, she knows nothing of honor,” came the arrogant voice of Wufei as he leaned back in his chair, blatantly ignoring the indignant look on Sally’s face. The spy had gotten to his beloved, and now things were not the same, things had changed.

“You don’t know her Wufei, I’ve seen that girl face things that would turn even your stomach and not bat an eyelash, she is anything but weak,” Sally said before standing up, a sad light in her eyes as she left the room.

“Stuck your foot in it didn’t you Wu-chan,” Duo grinned from across the table before jumping suddenly back, when a pair of strong hands reached for his neck.

“My name is not Wu-chan, it is Wufei, and what I do with my foot is none of your business.”

“Gentlemen, please focus, Relena’s life as well as the fate of the Nation is at stake here, do not let petty squabbles ruin our chance for continued peace,” Lady Une said softly her gaze resting on each pilot in turn.

“We will trust what she has to say, too much is resting on this to ignore it,” Quatre said his soulful eyes instilling the confidence and conviction in each pilot. His mind was suddenly taken back to a day, which he thought would be the happiest of his life, the day his child was to be born. He still felt the pain caused by the loss of both his wife and their child, yet he tried not to blame anyone most of the time. It was out of his control those outside his circle of friends would say, but they didn’t know the truth. They didn’t know the real reason and no one else ever would, they didn’t need to know that it was a carefully planned assassination designed to hinder one of the Gundam pilots. The sound of Duo’s incessant chatter broke him from his morbid thoughts as he thought once more of the situation at hand.

“…can never be forgotten, but we must go on, and as they always say revenge is a dish best served cold. Too many of our loved ones have been hurt by the aspirations of this man; I wont stand for it anymore. I won’t let him hurt anyone else, I wake up every night thinking that she’ll be right there next to me, but she wont. It wouldn’t serve their memories, those lost, if we forgot about them, their memories,” the braided pilot said softly as a tear fell down his cheek.

Quatre looked on and he thought of all the pain that had been caused to their loved ones to get to them, Wufei was the only one veritably unharmed emotionally, and for that he was thankful, wounds of the past were still wide and gaping on Wufei’s soul, they needed to heal first. But he had lost his wife, his child, his reason for living, and Duo, his pain reached out to his as he thought of the tragedy, which had struck the joyful young man. Hilde had been murdered in their bed, an expression of terror remaining on her face as she had lain there in a pool of her own blood, a note left next to her head. And Heero, they knew that Relena was still alive at least, but what condition she remained alive in was yet to be determined, Quatre only hoped that they wouldn’t be too late.

“Midii, it’s been decided,” Lady Une called down the hall, her soft voice echoing through the halls. She stepped back as the young woman entered the room, her two brothers beside her, their gazes meeting for a brief moment.

“We will trust you in this matter, but take heed, one wrong move and your number’s up,” Duo said softly from the shadows.

“I will not betray an Une, and by betraying any of you I would betray an Une, the family code of honor is strong in our hearts,” Midii said in rebuttal, her blue-gray eyes shining like cold steel in the fluorescent lighting.

“Well gentlemen, and Lady’s, it’s time to discuss our plans, this is an important mission,” Lady Une said, the room going dark as the soft hum of a projector, sounded in the room.
