Title:
Promise?
Beep.
Beep. Beep.
"Will
you turn that game off," Midii asked softly. Rubbing her
temples
as she glared at her reclining comrade.
"Is
it bothering you," was the sly reply, and she growled softly in
response.
"Yes,
it is."
Beep.
Beep. Beep.
"Is
that game so intellectually stimulating that you must play it
ceaselessly
the entire way to the colony?"
She
glared at him again, before ducking her head to examine the
mission
brief again, her mind trying to think of a means to convince
her
comrade to stop playing the insufferable game.
He
didn't respond to her comment verbally, he only smiled at her
before
bending over his phone again.
"If
you don't stop that, I swear I won't talk to you for the rest of
the
trip."
"No
great loss."
She
huffed indignantly at him, but held to her word, not uttering a
verbal
response.
[Really?]
His phone flashed, stopping his game, killing his chances
of
achieving the high score.
"What
is it Midii?"
She
remained silent to his queries.
"Midii!"
[Care
for a challenge?]
"What
the hell do you mean by that? It's not funny. You ruined my
score!"
[Chicken?]
"You
know they charge per message."
[Yes,
I know that. It's on your account.]
"Midii!
What the hell are you playing at?"
[It's
nice to see you ruffled. Who would have thought you had a
temper.]
She smirked at him as she sent the last message, her phone
held
between her manicured fingers.
She
watched him through her bangs as he glared at the tiny screen,
his
emerald eyes darkening in the face of his fury. It was fun to
rile
him up. It was fun to play with him especially when they were
the
only two people stuck on a shuttle.
[Remember
we are meant to be diplomats. Diplomats don't lose their
tempers.]
"Midii,
just talk to me dammit."
[If I
did that, then I wouldn't be holding true to my threat, where's
the
fun in that?]
"I'm
not going to play this game with you anymore. It's childish."
[And
your behavior earlier wasn't?]
She
snorted at his offended expression, and quickly turned to face
her
control panel as he glared at her. He didn't scare her when he
got
angry, merely amused her. It was fun to see him lose control.
But
she had to admit; she was doing this for a different reason. How
could
he play that game instead of paying attention to her dammit!
"Midii,"
he began softly, she shivered at the tenderness hidden in
the
single word. She jumped when she felt his hands descend on her
shoulders.
How had he snuck up on her? How could he move so
soundlessly?
"Will
you forgive me if I kiss you?" He whispered against her hair
as he
nuzzled the soft silken tresses.
She
nodded in response, a hand moving to caress his unshaven cheek.
"Turn
around then… I'm not the acrobat I once was," he murmured his
hands
caressing her shoulders through the thick material of her
Preventer
jacket.
His
lips stroked hers as he kissed her, gently brushing his lips
against
hers with each turn of his head, his fingers weaving through
the
thick silk of her hair.
"Am
I forgiven yet?" he whispered as he pulled away from her, her
glazed
expression warming his heart. He chuckled as she shook her
head,
pulling him towards her for a repeat performance.
A while
later he pulled away from her lips, resting his head against
her
chest as he held her in his lap.
"Now?"
"Hmmm….
if you promise not to play Snake on the return trip," she
demanded
with a chuckle as he nipped her earlobe.
"It's
a promise Ms. Une."
"Good,
because we're twenty minutes from the colony and I need to
freshen
up." She said with a wicked smile before jumping from his
lap
and securing herself in the rear of the shuttle leaving him to
face
the smiling face of the colony controller.
"G'day
mate, have a good snog?"
