//Every time we lie awake
After every hit we take
Every feeling that I get
But I haven’t missed you yet//
The curtains blew in the breeze. Two figures illuminated by the lights
of the colony. A young woman leaning back in her chair, head thrown back
against the edge of the couch. A young man staring at her fingers clenching
around the syringe.
"It's yours next."
"No, I'm good." She murmurs, eyes closed as she revels in the feelings of nothingness.
Used syringes littering the tabletop. Every surface covered in debris.
They're stopped caring about appearances. The only thing they crave is an
absence of feeling. A way to chase the memories away.
//Every roommate kept awake
By every sigh and scream we make
All the feelings that I get
But I still don’t miss you yet//
A young man screaming. Doors slamming. Frames falling from the walls.
She watches him leave, face blank. Arms wrapped around herself. Offering
the comfort that she refuses to ask for. She looks up as the door slams
open moments later.
A heartfelt curse as hands grab at one another, pulling each other close. Lips mashing together in a heated kiss.
The door swinging shut as someone left.
"We've lost another roommate," she comments later as they come up for air.
"He was a keeper, not a roommate." He responds before returning his lips to her neck. Kissing the pale flesh.
"They worry don't they?" She asks softly, fingers running through his unkempt hair.
"Yes, they do."
She shakes her head astounded that they haven't managed to push everyone away, yet.
//Only when I stop to think about it
I hate everything about you
Why do I love you
I hate everything about you
Why do I love you//
Friends intervening, holding the combatants apparent. Screams and curses
flinging through the air. A young man breaking free from his friends, pulling
her into a heated embrace. The world spinning out of control.
"You're killing each other!" The friends yell at the pair.
"Trowa! Dammit!" His sister yells and he pauses for a moment before shrugging his shoulders.
"This is my life," he murmurs as they leave, hands thrown up in defeat.
"We'll be here when you come to your senses," his sister throws over her shoulder before she shuts the door.
He shakes his head. He never wanted to come to his senses.
//Every time we lie awake
After every hit we take
Every feeling that I get
But I haven’t missed you yet//
Lying side by side, pretending to be asleep, always awake. Tears falling
silently, soaking the pillows. Wrapping papers falling to the floor as pain
became too much.
A never-ending cycle.
"Why do we do this?" He asks finally, breaking the silence.
"Because we being together is better than being alone," she responds softly.
He knows that life would be easier if he could give her up. Their
bad habits have only gotten worse with time. They aren't improving. They're
spiraling out of control.
"I hate you." He finally says to the darkness.
"I hate you too."
"But I love you as well."
"Same here." She sighs. It would be so much easier if things were simple she thinks before finally sleep takes her.
