"Nanashi is that you?" Called a voice from behind Trowa, the voice sounding familiar to him, striking a chord from his
childhood. The name the voice uttered causing him to turn around with the speed born of neccessity during the war, speed
which had enabled his survival during missions.
"Who's there," he called in answering to the empty steet behind him, confusion seepping into his features.
"Nanashi," called the voice again, laughter sounding like childlike bells following the question this time. He whirled around
again, desperately trying to catch a glimpse of who was calling to him.
"Who's there," he questioned again his mind reeling, throwing out possibles for the voice as radical and inconsequential.
"Nanashi," taunted the voice again, "don't you remember me," the voice questioned the tears evident in the way the voice
quavered.
"Show yourself to me, please," he pleaded once more to the darkness, as he turned around.
"I'm right here, Nanashi behind you, please tell me you remember me," the voice questioned and pleaded once more.
"You," was all Trowa could say as he turned for the last time, to be confronted with the girl who haunted his last memories of
his mercenary captain, the girl who had betrayed them to the enemy, the one who had signed their death warrants. He
remembered her being smaller, her hair shorter and her face rounded, her eyes though they hadn't changed they still held that
same look of sorrow, of self-pity.
"Hi Nanashi," she replied softly.
"My name is Trowa," he replied his tone neutral his mind reeling.
"I'm glad you found your name, I just wanted to apologize, I'll leave you alone, I promise I won't bother you again."
"Don't go, please tell me are you Midii Une," he questioned his face shadowed.
"Yes, I'm Midii Une, please I promise to leave you alone, please don't hurt me," her soft voice pleaded once more.
"Why would I hit you?"
"Because I betrayed you," her voice echoed into the darkness.
"I forgive you, it was understandable, you had to take care of your family," he voiced as he stepped closer to the trembling girl.
"I've been hit for less why should this be any different," she replied to Trowa's advancing form her eyes downcast.
"Who would hit you Midii," Trowa questioned his voice remaining steady, inside his mind was reeling how could anyone hit
another human being without being thoroughly provoked into action, he doubted that Midii would harm a fly.
"The soldiers, and other people, it's not so bad really, I mean getting hit, I deserved it," was the sullen reply.
"No one ever deserves to get hit if they didn't provoke it through actual violence."
"I betrayed them as well though, I deserved it," she said as she further curled in on herself, remaining rooted to the ground as
Trowa stepped closer and closer.
"No one ever deserves violence to be brought upon them Midii," he whispered as he came to a stop when he was toe to toe
with the silent and trembling girl.
"I do," was her soft reply, as she continued to tremble, shivering in the cold night air, her thin cotton shirt offering little warmth.
"Here at least take my jacket, Midii."
"Why woud you want to help me?"
"I don't need a reason to help friend do I?"
"How can I be your friend if I betrayed you?"
"Easy really, those were extreme circumstances, Midii."
"..."
"You had to do what you had to do, you did it for your family."
"Didn't help them though, I shouldn't have helped the alliance, when I got home, they were dead, I had betrayed you for
nothing, I'm sorry."
"Midii I've forgiven you already but you need to forgive yourself."
"Maybe with time," she replied a small smile forming on her face.
"I'll help you if you want," he replied his arms slowly moving to encircle Midii's waist.
"Trowa there was something I wanted to tell you the last time we met, but you didn't give me a chance which was
understandable, I mean you had just watched the only family you had get killed because of me," she slowly stated her eyes
downcast once more.
"Shh, Midii that's all in the past."
"Trowa, I love you, I always have, I was drawn to your soul, that's why I gave you my cross, I didn't want you to be killed as
well, you had become to important to me in the short time we knew each other."
"Midii, I think I feel the same way for you," Trowa said as he used a finger to raise Midii's dove grey eyes to gaze into his own
emerald ones.
"Trowa," she whispered as her own arms moved of their own volition to encircle his lean waist.
"Came with me, Midii, we can be happy together."
"What do you mean?"
"I love you Midii, I don't want to be alone again," he whispered in her ear.
A year later Trowa was standing at the alter waiting for the woman who had held his heart since childhood to appear at the end
of the aisle, silently preying that Midii hadn't suddenly done a runner, fear overwhelming her senses. His fears proved
unfounded when Midii appeared at the church doors the pure white dress making her seem as an angel sent from heaven, her
blonde hair cascading down her back in an array of curls a smile plastered on her youthful face. He dove grey eyes sought his
out and throughout the ceremony their gazes never faltered through some miracle they managed to stumble through the
ceremony saying all the right things in all the right places, holding onto each other after sharing a brief kiss full of promise, tears
glistening in Midii's eyes, a joyful smile spreading across Trowa's usually emotionless face. They ran down the aisle hand in
hand, leaving the past behind, and heading for their future together.
